The Cult - Schaeffer Crawfish Boil Festival, May 4/2012
Birmingham, Alabama, Schaeffer Crawfish Boil Festival
Opening Band:
I am use to seeing The Cult in smaller more intimate venues (e.g. The Tabernacle, ATL). Being a big stage, big venue, I was wondering how it would play out. I havent seen them in this setting since 2001 River Stages, Nashville TN. The last few shows over the last decade have been good, but missing something. Ill say that this show was the best one I have seen since that 2001 show (BG&E Tour). The energy was great, the crowd was into it, the music was tight (including the new material) and they look like they were having fun again. Billy was laughing the entire show... something I havent seen in awhile. Ian looks much healthier on all aspects. Overall, they still kick ass. There were a few moments where Billy would asked to be turned up a little, which I wasnt complaining. These guys were loader than KISS on a few songs (Lucifer, The Phoenix and For the Animals).

Incredible show.
