The Cult - Tivoli Theatre, May 5/2010
Brisbane, Australia, Tivoli Theatre

I would like to say from the outset that I attended the show with a little bit of trepidation after reading some of the online reviews after the previous show in Auckland NZ. I was confident that those fears would be unfounded and didn't flinch at travelling over 1200km's to experience The Cult again for perhaps the last time in Australia. I am pleased to say however that the boys delivered a performance that was second to none and that 15 years has been too long a wait for a repeat performance from the band in this country.

Whatever the sound difficulties were in NZ were gone, Billy's guitar was soaring and there was great bottom end sound throughout and it was obvious to all that the band has benefited greatly from sticking with the same line up of band members, providing a tight performance.

I was fortunate enough to have pole position in front of Billy Duffy, and can say that watching Billy play guitar will be an experience that I will never forget. Duffy is without doubt one of the most talented guitarists in history and deserves all accolades that come his way.

Ian Astbury. What can I say...... Ian has a reputation in some circles of being a bit hit and miss with his performances. Ian Astbury, the Tivoli Theatre, Brisbane, May 2010 - HIT!!!!!!!!! Ian's performance was very good, and he seemed to be focussed on delivering a sound lyrical display, rather than running and jumping around the stage, which has in the past had an adverse affect on the quality of his voice.

The Cult - Brisbane 2010 - 9 out of 10 - ( 1 point deducted for failing to play Lil' Devil.)
