In front of the venue there were hundreds of mid 30ies and 40ies (like me - I think all these people listen to The Cult in the Electric & Sonic Temple eara) waiting with tons of beer for The Cult to begin. The supporting band Gun did it quite well but nothing special, ok there were 2 big hits at the end of the show: Cameo's "Word up" cover and "Break the silence". There must be real Gun fans like this guy who recorded the whole show and put it on YouTube. After the stage was prepaired for The Cult everybody was ready for the first Cult show in Ljubljana. And then waiting and waiting and waiting. It was very hot inside and the crowd became nervous and started screaming BOOOO! After a delay of 1 hour (even more) the boys went on stage, Ian drunk as Fu** and they started with Lil' Devil. A few songs long Ian could not find the right level (volume) for his voice (peak), sometimes too lound and then you could not hear anything of Ian. "Rain" was pure confusion, I don't know what they did wrong, they were lost inside the song, it sounded awful, confused (you can see/hear it on YouTube), and then the show became better and better with every song. A highlight was "The Phoenix" with the longest drum/bass solo (King John Tempesta), it reminds me on the 1986 eara. My favourite "The Wolf"... 3 encore songs...
Later I heard about the tour bus crash, so now I can understand the confusion at the beginning. There is only one thing I can say: The Cult is the best band in whole world. These guys are PROFESSIONALS!!! They did their job even after the bus crash.
Rock on!
