The Cult - Fillmore, Nov 13/2010
Charlotte, North Carolina, Fillmore
Opening Band: Black Ryder
It seemed like audio difficulties extended the gap between Black Ryder and The Cult coming on. As a result, I think a couple of songs got cut and we only got one encore tune. This was my first time at this venue, so I don't know if it's just the acoustics of the place or if it was audio trouble, but it seemed to me that the sound was never quite right for either band. While The Cult was on, it seemed liked Ian's mic volume fluctuated a lot - Billy's guitar was right on, though. He can still bring it.

Even so, I enjoyed the Black Ryder, and The Cult rocked as usual. The crowd was a little subdued for Ian's taste, but it was a better crowd than the last time I'd seen them. I'd mainly stayed away from other playlists because I like to be surprised at the selection. My thoughts: love the fact that The Phoenix is still in there; very happily surprised to have them play Nirvana and Spiritwalker; surprised they played NYC; wish we could've gotten something from the self-titled CD and Born Into This. I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining, though - I realize that their catalog is extensive and they can't play the big songs without dropping some others from the set. It was great to see them again, and I was glad that they still put on a fantastic performance.
