The Cult - Webster Theater, Nov 3/2010
Hartford, Connecticut, Webster Theater
Opening Band: Black Ryder
My wife and I saw the show at The Webster in Hartford CT.I love The Webster. I've seen Queensryche there in the past and just saw Social Distortion this past summer. One of the best places to see a show.

The Band sounded great. It was my first time to see The Cult live. I had wanted to see them a couple years ago when they came around and I couldn't make it so I was happy they came back. The music sounded superb.

The only thing we both left unhappy with was the performance given by Ian Astbury singing. He didn't really try to sing anything. He wasn't able to carry a note and had to gulp air twice during Fire woman when he yells "Fire". He also hit some weird piercing notes that sounded terrible in the venue. Almost as if the needed to take the edge off of his vocals. Now I understand that a live show is different than an album song but just shouting the words "Sweet! Soul! Sister!" was just lame. I thought Ian used to actually sing.

It was too bad as I had such high hopes for the show. Ian also seemed disconnected from the band. Maybe it was from spending too many years pretending to be Morrison. I don't know. If they came back around I may give them the benefit of the doubt and see them again but I know my wife would chastize me for putting myself through it again.

Well, those are just my thoughts. Again many thanks to the Band for such great playing.
