Friday, November 6 was my fortieth birthday, and my boyfriend and I drove 5 hours
to Detroit to see the only band I could ever want to see on such a big day. The
Fillmore was a neat place, and by 7:30 starting filling up. We waited and waited,
but it was all worth it. At about 9:20 they finally came on and played even
better than I could have ever hoped for. Ian seemed happy with the crowd, and
he still looks like Jim Morrison with a shaggy beard and wavy hair. I don't think
it's possible for Billy to miss a single note. I love the rest of the band; they
play so well together. I don't know the set list, but it seems identical to some
of the previous dates. There was no opening band, which was fine with me, and
they played "Sun King" during their "encore." I couldn't have asked for a better
way to spend my birthday. Long live The Cult!!
