Caught The Cult showa fter the "Rock & Roll Marathon" in San Antonio, Texas on Nov 16th
2008. Great show!! Had been wanting to see the Cult, and even considered flying to Boston,
Massachusetts earlier this year but expenses for me and my wife would have been too much.
Looking in the local newspaper on Nov 13, I saw an article about the Rock & Roll Marathon
in San Antonio on 11/16/2008 and it said "The Cult" would headline the post race concert.
I called and found out I could get general admission tickets for $25.00 each at the Alamodome
ticket office, only 15 minutes from my house. Got the tickets and me and my wife went to the
concert on Sunday 11/16/2008. Could not have been happier about the experience. Got to the
Alamodome around 6:00pm (Doors opened at 6:30). Got in right away and got 4th row center seats.
Opening band Valejo played pretty good, and after a short set change the Cult came out and
kicked ass. Sound was great and the energy was amazing. Ian's voice was on the mark and Billy
Duffy's guitar licks were superb (as well as the rest of the band). After the show we were
able to get out of the parking lot quick and be home in 20 minutes. Never have I seen such a
good concert at an affordable price and did not have to fight traffic and huge crowds. The
marketing for the concert could not have been that good. I'm sure a lot more rockers would
have made the show if they knew about it, and how cheap the tickets were (promoters for the
marathon must have subsidized the tickets). Can't wait to see the Cult again, although I
doubt the stars will align like they did for us for that show. Long live the Cult!
