Forth time I see The Cult in Buenos Aires, and cannot wait ´till next visit (hope they make it to the
South Cone more often). The show captivated over 15.000 people in Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Ian
Astbury confirmed without any stridence or overacting that he is one of the best rock vocalist and
frontmen ever. Full stop. Very charismatic, and in full control of the scene all the time. (tip for
the ladies: he had a bit of a Michael Hutchence look). Billy Duffy with the most powerful and
creative riffs which were followed and sang by the crowd (he was wearing a shortish T, and posing
like in Sonic Temple cover, so that we could all appreciate his hard work abs.) The band with Tempesta
and Wise sounded precise and impecable, and the performance was very highly praised by the media.
Astbury always trying to communicate with the audience by naming local soccer teams, and dedicating
Dirty Little Rockstar to Diego Maradona (Ian was a bit pissed off with the sound though, and ironically
said that we had had too much of Dave Mathews Band - who played the day before) Love Removal Machine was
dedicated to them.
This comment would not be complete without a mention to their previous visit in 2006 (in Obras Sanitarias)
That was simply amazing. The crowd went absolutely mad. Unlike the Pepsi show, the audience then was
100% Cult fans that have been waiting for them since 2001. It was a true return to the wild! Everybody
singing every song at the loudest (couldn´t speak for days after that), while jumping for one hour and a
half. They even played "Revolution" (a song that Argie fans always ask for and that time we finally got
it). See what I meand and check this concert in You Tube.
What can I say other than chapeau !! to one of the best rock bands ever!!!
