Minneapolis, Minnesota, Myth
Headlining, opening bands: The Knives, The Clicks, Action Action
Two nights ago, I went to my very first Cult Concert Ever. After being a fan for many years. I was SOOO
excited to see them, I couldn’t stop smiling even though the turnout was a bit disappointing and I got
the sad impression Ian wasn’t happy to be there. There wasn’t a huge number of people there, but WE were
there, and quite happy about that. Basically, the only thing that would have made the night better would
have been to see the Cult love being there and enjoying themselves as much as we loved seeing and hearing
THEM. And, maybe a smile and reach from Ian seeing my husband and I were in the first row with me reaching
out constantly; and what female fan doesn’t have a slight crush on Ian. My husband was even disappointed
for me. Hee hee. BTW, Ian does look amazingly like Jim Morrison in person. My husband thought so as well.
Anyway, it was a great and exciting night for us. I’m just happy we got to be there in person, in the
first row right between Ian and Billy just a few feet away. Wow! Fantastic Music. I got my husband into
the Cult’s music and now he plays their songs on his guitar. I used to request their songs at nightclubs
and would even dance by myself to Rain, which sadly was missing from the song list. Before the concert, I
told myself I would scream out SUN KING in hopes they would play it, but unfortunately, I was so excited
that I forgot. Oh well, the music was so so good to hear played live and I hope to see them again some day.
The Cult is an awesome Band and I will always think they are the best; I think a lot of people (if not most)
take on the attitude of the band, so I just hope they’ll relax and enjoy THEMSELVES a bit more and the crowd
will respond to that.
Another thing to add is that the people at the MYTH nightclub are wonderful!!! Thank you for helping to make
the night a fun time! Just wish I could have gotten that tambourine ~ NOT THE ONE FOR THE KID (as one of the
security guards was trying to help me get from the stage).

WOW!!!!! What a show. Not only because it's my most recent, but because I was almost misled into missing
it. My wife and I got a hotel room behind the club and my brother was going to come meet up before the
concert. Everyone was telling me leading up into the concert that the Cult wouldn't be up on stage until
about 10-10:30ish. So my wife and I were hanging out having a few beers waiting for my perpetually late
brother, when she asks me to call the club to get an estimation on when the Cult were going to start. This
was around 9:00 and when I called, the answer was, "They start in 3 minutes". Holy Crap!!, we gotta get
over there right now I yell. When we got there, they were just finishing up "Nirvana" and went into "Electric
Ocean" and from there on out, they rocked the rest of the night.
I was a little disappointed with the numbers there. I was hoping more die-hards would show up and support
this awesome band. But at the same time, it had a cozy, dare I say, intimate feel to it, with the band and
a select group of superfans. One guy even bought his son to the show and I was thinking that that was the
luckiest kid in the world right now. He even got a souvenir tambourine, which I was in line to get had Ian
overthrew the kid a little bit, and yes, I would have ceded it to the kid, eventually.
This was my wife's first Cult concert and towards the end of the show she was complaining about feeling a
weight on her chest and I simply told her, "That's rock and roll baby, That's rock and roll"
It was a great show at a good venue and I can't wait until they come around again.

I went to the cult show friday nite with some friends. this was my 5th time seeing the band live. we were
in the second row of people right in the middle. the first band, called the knives, in my opinon, sucked.
the second band however, the cliks, were great! i even got their album, which is great as well! if you haven't
checked them out, you should. the third band, action action, was just so-so. we were all pumped for the cult
to come out, and they played a great show, but way too short. a band like that ought to play 20 plus songs.
my personal faves, peace dog, in the clouds, and rain were absent from the setlist, although i thought they
would be based on the setlists from other shows this tour. the new songs sound great live, alot better than
on the album. i was especially impressed with dirty little rock star. overall, i rate their performance as
8.5 out of 10 based on their performance of the last two tours. the film between the main set and the encore
was inspiring, but afterwords, even though you couldn't hear him very well, it sounded like ian was chastising
the crowd for not knowing what was going on in darfur/burma. people go to rock shows to escape that sort of
stuff, so ian needs to cut the crowd some slack. the myth is not a very good venue in my opinion, because it's
rather sterile, and the sound, while loud, is not very defined and is somewhat mushy. you couldn't understand
anything ian was saying when he was talking. when they played first ave last year, well THAT is a great venue.
anyway, a great time was had by all, and despite my whining a bit, i loved the show and i love this band! i
can't wait til they come back! if anyone has a recording of this show, or any others of this tour, please
contact me for a trade.

Great show. The boys never disappoint. I missed the first opening act, but arrived in time to catch The Clicks'
set, which was a lot of fun. The crowd gave the gals a lukewarm response, but I was impressed with the vocals
and their overall sound. I was also impressed to see that the entire band went to the concession area for a
short meet and greet following their set. I wish I could say good things about Action Action, but I just didn't
dig their bubble gum rock sound. At the very least, they should have gone on prior to The Clicks, who deserved
to be seen in front of more people. AA was so annoying that they're bound to become megastars on MTV. Sorry,
they tried hard, but I just don't care for their sound. Three keyboards on one stage can only lead to annoying
music.
The Cult took the stage and played a set similar to what they've been playing around the horn. I know they've
stated in interviews that they felt "Beyond Good and Evil" was over-produced, but I really dig the first four
tracks on that album and was disappointed that they haven't been playing any of them on this tour. So I was
pleasantly surprised when they included "Rise." As I mentioned the last time I saw the band, I really wish
they would play "The Saint." For that matter, it's time to put "Sweet Soul Sister" back in the rotation. That
being said, I was thrilled with the overall show. Ian and Billy were terrific as always, and the rhythm
section was tremendous. Chris Wyse had a fun stage presence and deserves more recognition for his work on the
album and John Tempesta is awesome on the skins. I've been a big fan of his since the Zombie days. I realize
that Ian and Billy are The Cult, but Wyse and Tempesta are more than just along for the ride. The rhythm
player had an odd "Where's Waldo?" look (complete with the shirt). If you ran into him on the street, you'd
think he was an accountant rather than a guitarist. Not knocking the guy, just saying
In a fun moment, Ian tossed his tambourine to a young fan. The throw missed the kid, but Ian insisted that
whomever caught the tambourine give it to the intended target. After about 30 seconds, Ian announced that the
tambourine would have bad karma unless it was given to its rightful owner, and the person who caught it finally
gave in.
I know the previous reviewers noted that the crowd size was disappointing. I didn't think it was too bad. The
head count was similar to the last couple of times they played at First Avenue in Minneapolis, only The Myth
is a bigger venue, so the crowd probably looked smaller. All in all, this was a really fun show and the sound
was fantastic. Honestly, the new album was not clicking with me heading into the show. After seeing the band
perform a handful of these songs, I'm really digging the new tracks. Oh, and I'd love to see these guys perform
an outdoor summer tour one of these years.
