Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, Hampton Beach Casino
Headlining, opening bands: Action Action, Brand New Sin
The Cult put on a great show last night. Ian was talking a lot to the crowd. He
encouraged everyone to read Siddhartha by Herman Hess, he tried to get the people
from the luxury boxes to come down and join the crowd, and he asked who likes the
New York Yankees (in Red Sox country). Ian did ask who had the new album, and
said to those who downloaded it illegally, "Naughty, naughty". Unlike earlier
stops I've read about, Ian said they were selling the new CD at the show. Billy,
like most shows I've attended, wasn't completely happy with the guitar prep. He
motioned offstage quite a few times, while doing his best to fight through the
issues, that weren't apparent to me or the crowd. Billy did put out a plug for
Jaegermeister, which he encouraged during cold New Hampshire nights. Billy also
dedicated Fire Woman to all the ladies. John Tempesta was great. I am more
impressed with him the more I see him. Chris and Mike were both into the show,
but since I was stationed closer to Billy, I didn't focus on them too much. The
four songs from BIT sounded great. Everyone really seemed to like playing the
new stuff. After the shows in Atlanta and NYC, I was hoping for Ian to appear with
his accoustic, but the encore only included Born Into This and LRM. The Cult came
to rock and they did. I went home happy.
