Atlanta, Georgia, Tabernacle

Headlining, opening bands: Action Action, The Showdown

It took 2 or 3 songs into the set to get all the sound correct at the Tabernacle. Ian’s vocals could not be heard 100% until “I Assassin”. The total volume wasn’t really that load until Edie into Rise. All in all, great show as always. I was surprised that they played 18 songs. I would have guessed around 15. The crowd was not into the show 100% until Rise. I can see were the sound issues and the combination of Revolution/Edie would have dampened spirits a bit.... but the rest of the show lived up to the cult type performance. Ian only got on his soapbox once and taunted the crowd with comments and remarks for “us to wake up motherfuckers, and get into the show, we work our asses off for this. We could pack up and leave” to which I say back to Ian, “don’t play a slow Revolution into a slow Edie and not expect a lull in the crowd”. Like I said before, all in all a great show, worth the drive from Birmingham and besides the temporary sound issue, the Tabernacle lives up to the reputation. Oh, and the couple that was in the first tier that got kicked out of the show for basically having sex, thanks for the peep show. lol

Thanks for the site and the hard work.

Thanks for the great site first off. I'm the furthest thing from a sycophant but it's hard not to when it comes to Ian. I've caught at least one show of every tour since the LOVE tour. I missed Holy Barbarians show due to workin' too much.

Drove up from Savannah to catch Sundays show. Was hangin out in parking lot when their buses rolled in around 9:15AM. No sign of guys this early so returned around noon. Huge thanks and appreciation to Kevin who provided me with a couple of past set lists and sticks. He and Mike's tech were the nicest guys. Told me how cool the guys are and a couple of great stories of their interactions with Ian and how decent a guy he is.

Returned around 3:30PM and listened to the roadies sound check of Sanctuary which was stellar. Catch glimpse of covered up Ian heading toward side entrance And just said "please Ian" he strolled up and gave me a signature. By this time the hoard of asshole signature guys ( I assume their in it for the money) cause none of them were interested to listen to the BAND rip through a sound check which included Diamonds, Tiger in the Sun and abbreviated Holy Mountain among a couple of other oldies.

I agree with Joels review of start of show. But as anyone who knows this band, Ian's rant at the "crowd" was more than justified. Just when they were getting things rolling during the show some asshole(s) starts throwing donkey ass Jager hats from the balcony. RUINED the momentum and the dipshits hardly noticed when he stopped singing while band played with him draped over his mike with his head down nodding his head in disbelief. After song is when he deservedly told the dippy crowd the "the action is up here" and then berated then some more. DAMN RIGHT I've waited nearly 6 years to, catch'em live and the narcissistic young ones in the crowd haven't a f'n clue. Joel's criticism of a slow Revolution into Edie resulting in a "lull" is way off base. Revolution's at it's best when performed as it was on 11/4/07. We got the longest set list of the tour to date I believe and if ya want to hear more of the new stuff catch the damn sound check which was incredible.

11/04/07 also was first time Ian had played Holy Mountain live and Billy gave him a great hug and rustle of Ian's hair after the song which he performed while alone on stage and sitting on a stool. Billy coerced Ian into playin' Rain and those in attendance should be thankful they didn't pull the plug when all the hat shit happened.

There's no other band out there like these guys. Never was, probably never will be again. Ian "gets it" better than anyone and I'm glad HE DOESN'T SUFFER FOOLS GLADLY. He and Billy seemed to be fine and the techs told me the tour had been a smooth ride to date.

Before folks start criticizing Ian's actions on stage they need to take a look at themselves cause there's no better ROCK show around. From one ROCK HEAD to another the show was incredible. Mike holdin' down the fort on guitars as always (nice cycling outfit prior to show) and Chris and John are on top of their game. Velvet Revolver should take alook at what real rock is all about and once again Ian and Billy show that now one can touch'em with this latest work.

I've seen Ian chastise crowds numerous times over the years and HE's always responding to some dipshits in the crowd who are trying to make it about them in the crowd. Stupid small minded assholes are always in the crowd and when they go too far I love this band 'cause THEY won't take it and they call them out on it.

Ian and Billy deserve sincere thanks and appreciation ALWAYS. The music and words they generate are unequalled and very f'n hard to do. They are brilliant and as they years pass they only get stronger.

If I had the money I'd see every fuckin show cause THE CULT is pure and real. A precious commodity in the 80's and even more so now.

I hope Billy enjoyed catchin' his first NFL game, too bad he had to watch the Falcons.

Till next opportunity thanks to Ian for strolling over and letting me thank him in person for giving me 20+ years of worthy words and music. I can't wait for his next solo project or anything thing else he decides to do. He and Billy deserve a big embrace for giving us these beautiful and meaningful songs. Those who criticize this guy are just part of the f'n problem.

Another great CULT experience. The Tabernacle is the best place in Atlanta to see a trashy rock show. I have seen many CULT shows (good and bad), this one was a real treat. It started-off shaky with bad sound (fire that slow-ass tech) but was up to full throttle a few songs in. Atlanta loves the CULT and the CULT loves Atlanta (it shows). I hope we will see them again but I kept wondering how much longer the boys will cater to a crowd of mid-aged rockers. God love them, they're doing it for all the right reasons (rock and roll). 'Holy Mountain' made my wife's night, 'Rise' blew me away, and my neck still hurts from 'The Phoenix.' Don't miss this tour.
