New Orleans, Louisiana, House Of Blues
Headlining, opening bands: Action Action, Splendid Chaos
They opened with Nirvana.
The Cult were great. The new tunes, the usual 4 from the tour so far,
went off great, with the crowd into all of them, I Assassin
especially. Dirty Little Rockstar seemed to be met with some kind of
lull but by the last half of the song everyone was getting into the
chorus and the Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah like they do for Sun King and Sweet
Soul Sister and Lil' Devil.
They changed the set list around a little bit, closing the main show
with Sanctuary. The Encore was Born Into This and a stomping Love
Removal Machine, with Ian bellowing out at the very end She get's
high.
Ian was quite funny about downloading and stealing music and that
people should buy CDs to support music and that when they aren't
playing they're out stealing shit from houses and burning them down.
Ian asked how many people had the new record and roughly half the
audience raised a hand, fist or bottle in the air. I wished he would
have asked if it was loud enough because it wasn't - my girlfriend and
I had a conversation - about the fact that we could hear people around
us having conversations - right in the middle of a rock show? When I
saw The Cult on the Beyond Good And Evil tour is was louder than fuck.
Last night it wasn't nearly loud enough, especially at $45 a ticket
with loud yacking chicks. No one should be able to hear anyone talk at
a Cult concert.
And who the fuck pays $45 to go to a Cult concert and yack? That kind
of shit doesn't happen in Europe, where the people take their rock
concerts seriously.
Billy was the last to leave the stage, thanking the audience and
telling us that New Orleans was the best show so far on the tour. I
know the Midwest sucks. But I also know that New Orleans, no matter
who's playing, is a good time with a rowdy crowd. And The Cult have
come to love playing here.
So next time guys, crank it up a lot more to drown out the Yats and
the yacks. Sorry I didn't get the set list down - my girlfriend and I
were too busy jumping up and down to The Cult.

Show was very good....very loud! The new rhythm section is great. Not
to say that the last group wasn't but they've taken it up a few
notches. Chris Wyse killed on Bass...Tempesta rocked as well. This
lineup seems more like a "band" than hired guns to me. They were
tight. Billy was a little unhappy with his sound in the beginning,
but they corrected it and he was quickly in better spirits. Lots of
energy! Ian spoke to the crowd a lot, but I found it very difficult
to understand him due to the volume. I know he said something about
the city (New Orleans) having too much soul to be destroyed (a Katrina
referrence). At the end Billy said we were the best crowd so far, and
the best looking, but I bet he says this to all the cities. :)
