Ventura, California, Ventura Theater
Headlining, opening bands: Action Action, Smile Empty Soul
First opening band was pretty good...nu-metalish.
Second opening band was more alternative, indie. Synthesizers,etc....Give them credit
for giving their best effort on stage and their energy!!!!
Just a thought- If The Cult had a say on who opened for them, I say a good call. Music
styles crossing different genres exposes new fans to The Cult. Just like their new pink
album cover, which attracts attention.
I was impressed with tonight's show. Band executed very well, great sound even with my
ear plugs. They've really come along since the last tour through the States. No
technical diffiCULTies that I was aware of. Everyone in good spirits.
The highlight was not only hearing Spiritwalker, but also 'Sun King' live. WOW!!!
Ian's reading suggestion and mandated end of the week book report on the Tibetan Book
of the Dead and will probably fall on deaf ears, but it's worth a try. Maybe too much
Jag as this resembled more of an irish wake. *wink* Is this the new Cult? Preparing for
the death of the old and a rebirth... hmmmm???
Those in attendance also had the opportunity to listen to Mike Dimkich's band who played
across from the Ventura Theatre after The Cult show. Interesting to see Mike play both
guitar and bass. Full of energy and they played a wide range of songs from the Clash,
Social D to Nancy Sinatra. Briefly met him and John Tempesta. Very gracious and humble
gents.
Thank you Cult, Mike & John. Also, it was nice to meet you Peanut from this board.
